Nabil Fakih

Nabil Fakih is a former Michigan pharmacist who owned and operated a pharmacy in Dearborn Heights. He pleaded guilty to health care fraud and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a Medicare fraud scheme.

What Happened?

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between approximately 2011 and 2017, Fakih submitted fraudulent Medicare claims for prescription medications that his pharmacy did not dispense. The medications included high-reimbursement drugs such as blood thinners and lung disease inhalers. The government reported that the scheme caused approximately $4 million in losses to Medicare.

Fakih pleaded guilty to one count of health care fraud in August 2024. In November 2025, he was sentenced to 46 months in prison, ordered to pay $4 million in restitution, and ordered to forfeit four properties and more than $726,000.
