Dr. Naveed Aslam, M.D.

Dr. Naveed Aslam, M.D. is an oncologist from West Bloomfield, Michigan who was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally selling and diverting prescription cancer drugs.

What Happened?

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Dr. Aslam used his medical practice, Somerset Hematology and Oncology, P.C., to obtain expensive cancer medications and divert them outside the authorized pharmaceutical supply chain. The scheme operated from 2019 through 2023 and involved more than $17 million in prescription cancer drugs. Dr. Aslam personally profited more than $2.6 million.

The cancer medications involved were used to treat serious conditions, including breast, cervical, bladder, and urinary tract cancers. Dr. Aslam was sentenced in November 2025 and ordered to forfeit more than $2.6 million.

The case was also reported by CBS Detroit, which identified Aslam as a West Bloomfield oncologist and reported on his federal sentence.

Michigan’s Medicaid sanction list identifies Naveed Aslam as a physician in West Bloomfield and records a summary suspension beginning December 25, 2024.
