What Happened?

Father Murray, a Villa Center was one of six Michigan nursing homes involved in a federal and state health care investigation involving facilities operated by Villa Healthcare. In 2024, the United States and Michigan filed allegations concerning the facilities’ participation in Medicare and Michigan Medicaid and their billing and care practices.

The matter resulted in a settlement with the United States and State of Michigan involving the six nursing facilities, including Father Murray. The settlement agreement identified Father Murray Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, LLC as the operator of Father Murray, a Villa Center.

Father Murray has also accumulated numerous federal nursing-home inspection deficiencies. Recent inspection records include findings concerning abuse and neglect protections, quality of care, resident rights, care planning, pharmacy services, infection control, and facility safety. A February 2024 inspection included a deficiency involving failure to protect residents from abuse, neglect, or exploitation that was classified as actual harm that was not immediate jeopardy.

More recent complaint inspections in 2025 and 2026 continued to identify deficiencies involving resident care and protections from abuse and neglect.
