What Happened?
Regency was one of six Michigan nursing facilities named in a federal and state health care fraud investigation involving facilities operated and managed by Villa Healthcare. In 2025, the United States and State of Michigan entered into a settlement with the facilities and related entities.
The settlement resolved allegations arising from a whistleblower lawsuit concerning the facilities’ participation in Medicare and Michigan Medicaid and their billing and care practices. The six facilities identified in the settlement included Regency, A Villa Center, operated by Park Nursing Center of Taylor LLC.
Regency has also received numerous deficiencies during federal nursing-home inspections. Current public inspection records show 40 total deficiencies, including findings from a January 2026 standard inspection.
